Solipsism vs Narcissism The short answer
Solipsism is a philosophical position about knowledge and existence: only your own mind can be known to exist. Narcissism is about character: admiring yourself too much, and in psychology a pattern marked by a strong need for admiration and little feel for other people's feelings. A solipsist doubts that other minds are there at all; a narcissist is very sure they are, and wants their attention. They blur only in the loose everyday sense of 'solipsistic', meaning self-absorbed.
