What is an aspect in astrology?

An aspect is the angle between two planets in a chart. The five major aspects are the conjunction (0 degrees), sextile (60), square (90), trine (120), and opposition (180), each describing how two planetary energies interact.

An orb is the tolerance around an exact aspect angle within which the aspect is still considered active, usually a few degrees either side of exact.
